His academic journey culminated with a Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee, where he researched "Performance Evaluation and Green Retrofit Strategies for Buildings in Composite Climate."

Dr. Kumar’s career spans over 32 years, including roles at CSIR-CBRI where he held positions such as Outstanding Scientist – Director Grade and Chief Scientist.
