He then obtained a BSc in Geomatics from the University of Dar es Salaam, at the then University College of Lands and Architectural Studies (UCLAS), Tanzania. His undergraduate studies encompassed a wide range of subjects including Engineering Surveys, Geodesy, Cartography, Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and Basics in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Dr. Ijumulana started his professional career as a Tutorial Assistant at the University of Dar es Salaam from 2006 to 2010.
